What we do
We build our performances around a subject rather than an existing play. Alongside a subject there can also be an exhibition, a video, a film or music. They support one another, and each can stand on its own.
The name
The name comes from the Hungarian slang “mókolni”: to tinker, to refine something until it is exactly right. We spell it with two short o’s, because together they sound like one long one.
Where we come from
In 2017, two artists in a contemporary dance programme felt that the relationship between music and movement went far deeper than what they were being taught. That became Sound of Movement. The same question still drives us: how deep can you dig when you really research the connection between art forms?
What we do
Sound of Movement. Live music and movement in the same room. An improvisation session for trained, non-professional dancers, where musicians respond to movement and movement responds to music. More (Hungarian)
Jam Session. Musical improvisation from zero. No pre-written songs: the sound is built on the spot, between the players. For trained musicians. More (Hungarian)
MOOV. A free dance and movement series with a jam for World Dance Day. Anyone can join, no experience needed. More (Hungarian)
Open singing class. Singing and conscious use of the voice, open to everyone. Led by Alexandra Gesztesi.
Performances. Built around subjects, not scripts. The stage performance is one part of how we explore a question.
Events
Most sessions are free. Performances are ticketed. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. The upcoming events are listed on the Events page (in Hungarian).
